A:

Action games:

Games focusing on speed and where the player needs good reflexes and coordination skills. Often these games feature extreme violence and destruction.

Adventure games:

Games which focus on puzzle solving within a narrative framework. Will typically demand (un)logical thought.

AGP:

Short for "Accellerated Graphics Port." This is a port on your motherboard that is used specifically to insert a graphics card in. It can transfer data at 266MBps (1x), 533MBps (2x), and 1.07GBps (4x), compared to the PCI speed of 133MBps (Megabyte per second). It is the little brown slot somewhere near the longer, white PCI slots.

AI:

Artificial Intelligence, The part of a computer program which runs the action of the monsters and npcs in a game.

Arcade:

Building stuffed with computer games (arcade games). Arcades were highly popular in the eighties. Arcade games are almost always action games.

Autofire:

A weapon with autofire shoots it load, with an interval, as long as the player presses the fire button, without the need for the player to repeat the pressing action.

Avatar:

Graphical representation of a players alter ego, this term is especially used in role-playing games.
