DESCRIPTION OF WARHEADSSE

WarHeads SE is a turn-based space shooter of an entirely different kind. Gameplay is a mix of skill, strategy... and some luck. As a ship in a planet-filled quadrantal galaxy (with randomized planet layouts, no two game maps are alike, and with the option to turn walls on and off, shots can either bank or wrap), your mission is to kill other ships, cause as much damage as possible, and be the last ship standing. Choose your weapon, adjust angle and power, pick one of six different defenses, then fire!

The updated full version offers customizable weapons – 75 per pack! – and the weapon combinations are limited only by your imagination. With the current configuration of 12 weapon patterns and 27 weapon stages, you can build weapons in a dedicated outboard editor on a 10-warhead-by-8-stage grid. Weapons can fly and curve at the mercy of the planets' gravitational fields (as do ships when they're in motion), or they can heat-seek ships more directly. Warheads can burrow through planets and multiply, maximizing damage and treating you to some eye candy as shots play out like a disaster movie. Specific weapon combinations can exploit specific defenses.

Weapon-making is a challenging art to master, but it's easy to get a head start, what with many other players' existing packs being available for free download. You can use them as teaching tools that inspire your own creations... or you can just use them.

Aside from custom weapon-based gameplay, there's a back-to-basics sniper gameplay mode where your only concerns are firing angle, firing power, and planetary gravity. Here, the game takes a pure and simple form, yet it’s no less exciting. You can play offline against up to seven human or CPU opponents, but the raison d'être for WarHeads SE is online play, where you can take on up to nine rivals... or duel with your nemesis.

WarHeads has a team play option; join an existing team or build a new one with your buddies, and challenge other teams to the death. Relax in the lobby and chat with friends old and new before slaughtering them in the game. But the discourse doesn't end there; in-game chat allows you to talk with your friends while you kill them (or look silly trying), and customizable shot phrases such as “Die, yuppie scum!” or "Is that your real hair?" precede each shot and provide an added dimension of entertainment, allowing the wiseass in all of us to really shine. But players aren't the only funny things around here; sometimes, the way shots unfold, you'd swear the game itself has a sense of humor!
