EasyPar
DESCRIPTION OF EASYPAR
EasyPar is a game where your virtual player competes in weekly tournaments against friends on the provided EasyPar golf tours. The aim of the game is to be at the top of the EP order of Merit at the end of the 13-week EP season or even get that elusive Top 50 world ranking which means you will be able to compete in any EasyPar tournament of your choice around the world. Not all of us can be winners and the higher up the “Order of Merit” you finish, the better your playing privileges are for the next season. A field of 150 players is selected for every tournament according to his “Exemption Category” on that particular tour and will then compete in that tournament over 4 days, providing he makes the cut. Each player is allocated $50,000 (the std EP currency) when he registers and needs to manage this while trying to do as well as he can on tour.Tournaments normally start Thursday mornings 8am local time with a cut after two rounds. The Top 70 players and ties progress and will play two more rounds over the weekend. Once a player makes the cut he is guaranteed some cash, how much depends on how well he performs over the weekend. Members can follow hole by hole progress of the tournament over the four days of each tournament or get the updates on the formal leaderboard after all players have completed their rounds.
In playing a round of golf, a player's seven basic skills are taken into account, along with the player’s confidence, form, experience, caddie relation, caddie skill and health for every shot he plays during the round. The weight of each of these factors that contributes to the ability of the player to play the next shot depends on the conditions, type of shot, and time of the tournament. For example, the later in the tournament you are, the more a player’s health and fitness will contribute to the total makeup of the player’s “ability” the play a good shot. In the Match Program (the program that generates the virtual round of golf) a random number between 0 and 100 is generated for every shot, every player plays during the round of golf and is set against the players ability make-up at that time for that particular shot. If the random number is higher than the ability of the player, then the next shot is a failure, if lower, then it is a success. Naturally, as in golf, there are various degrees of failure and success. The important thing to remember us that even the best players will have a horrible run of luck and form, that is golf. You can not be a perfectionist in a game that can't be perfected.
Players can practice once in every 23 hour period and can choose to practice any of his seven basic skills in whichever way he likes which will result in an improvement of the player's ability in the skill practiced. By how much depends on two things, how good a player already is at the skill he is working on, and with which help he is practicing. Like in golf, practicing something you are very poor at, will yield big improvements to start with, but the gain will become less per hour spend at the range the better you already are at the skill. This is a very important point to keep in mind while choosing the skill you would like to train. Unfortunately, like in golf, you can’t just spend all your time at the range with a driver in your hands. All skills erode over time if not practiced so be sure to have a good practice routine! The ability of a player at any given skills are expressed with words, of which you can find the ranking by following the “Skill Tables” link under Instructions.
