Dark Rifts
DESCRIPTION OF DARK RIFTS
Dark Rifts is running on a highly modified TMI-2 mudlib called SCB. It has two realms, Magic and Science, which were separated by the immortals, making them a world within a world with the dark rifts preventing them from seeing one another. Adventurers have found unstable ribbons and portals in the massive Overlands of their realms to travel to the opposite side, but risk their well-being as they trek across hostile land. Player-killing is enabled, but in realm vs. realm form only. Each realm has four professions (guilds) each, a default startup one and three in-depth guilds. The realm of Magic features Adventurers (default), Chaos Wizards, Qanai-Katal, and Boch Larude, while the realm of Science features Explorers (default), Martial Artists, PsiCorps, and LGM (aka Little Green Men).
Races have multiple purposes in Dark Rifts. The first purpose is to sort out who belongs to which realm; some diverse races such as Human and Gnome could choose between other realms, but an Avarial would always be on the side of Magic and a Koa would always be found in Science! All together, Dark Rifts has fourteen selectable races during character creation. The second major purpose is to have unique attributes associated with each race; a Dwarf is quite hardy but not as smart, while an Ubasti is quite agile but not as strong. The third major purpose is to give unique characteristics, such as hair and eye color, height, and weight, to each player based on their race selection. All of the available selectable races on Dark Rifts are: Android, Avariel, Brakian, Drow, Dwarf, Elf, Gnome, Half-Elf, Halfling, Human, Kender, Koa, Ssirith, and Ubasti.
Dark Rifts currently has over 70 areas, which includes cities unique to each side.
The developpers are open to input, and a lot of changes have been made in the past based on player suggestions.
